IFT is a resource for those to share their knowledge and interest about independent film making. Here we talk about a variety of subjects from pre-production to post production. Many of our comments are from former film makers, directors, producers, writers, special fx artists, editors and those considering perusing their film making goals.
I prefer the Sony XL2 but I am growing fond with Z1U its pretty light weight. The only flaws I see with Sony cameras is they don't handle low light well especially for horror films. If with proper lighting they tend to show a lot of grain. My advice for anyone who is planning on using a camera at night would be Panasonic, Canon or JVC.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, in my many years of working in hollywood I must say I prefer using the HVX200 over Sony. Cloverfield was shot on this camera and the quality of the footage was so gon they had to degrade it to make it look more amateur.
ReplyDeleteI know a wedding cinematographer who uses the canon GL2 for all his projects and I also know a film maker who uses a modified handycam with a 35mm mount for his films
